Racheal and Selena l Class of 2012

I adore senior sessions!

These two girls were a blast to shoot!  The bonus for this shoot was the fact that they are not only best friends but they are also stepsisters!  Yep.  They set their parents up on a date and the rest is history.  Their bond was awesome!  We had so much fun shooting because each one made the other laugh and relax in front of the camera.  It was great!  It was a lot of fun watching them interact with one another and witness the special bond they share

They both rocked it in front of the camera.  I was able to capture their personalities because of the energy they bounced off of each other. I was excited to see Racheal had brought her softball gear and Selena knew how to work her black and red heels (just wait til you see them!).  It was just so ‘them’.

I’m happy with all of their images.  I hope they like them as much as I do!

This first image is my favorite.  I’ve always wanted to try a blowing glitter picture.  These girls executed it beautifully!!!

the sampson family l fall family session

I love fall.  I love the chilly days and cool nights.  I’d much rather wear jeans and a sweatshirt over shorts and a tank top any day.  I especially love the kalediscope of colors fall has to offer.  We have had some great fall days around here.  Quite a few trees have lost their leaves but those that haven’t yet are bursting with beautiful color.  Our days have not been too cold (yet) which makes it the perfect weather for some fall photo shoots.

My friend Michelle and I have known each other since…well… birth.  She is 3 months older than me, so really, I’ve known her since I was born. Our families were great friends growing up.  Many of my childhood memories include her and her family in them.  We lost touch for a few years but we were able to quickly start things right back where we left off.  I’m thankful she and her husband decided to make Illinois their new home and move back here.  Our sons are friends and we are able to keep in touch on a regular basis.

I was delighted when they asked me to take their pictures.  We had a gorgeous day to do them.  It was a little windy but manageable.  I had a lot of fun capturing the sweetness of their boys and the bond they have as a family.  I especially love the way I was able to capture the special bond between their oldest son and his dad.  The pictures really speak for themselves as to the love these two have for one another.  I can just tell he thinks of his dad as his hero.  Super sweet!

a newbie to newborns

Newborns.  They are so squishy.  So cuddly.  So precious.  So sweet.  So…new.

I’ll be honest.  I’ve never done a newborn photo shoot.  It always seemed a bit scary to me.  I’ve always wanted to but never mustered up the courage to just do it.  I took a chance and asked my very pregnant friend if she would mind if I took pictures of her new babe once she arrived.  She loved the idea.  I was happy she was willing to let this newbie to newborns give it a whirl.  Newborn photography is everything I thought it would be.  Challenging. Very challenging.  It wasn’t so challenging that it scared me away from ever doing it again.  In fact, I’d definetly do it again.  I learned so much on this shoot.  The newborn photographers out there make it look so easy—the baby sleeps and you just manipulate their little hands, head, and body the way you want it to go for cute little poses.  Not the case.  Some babies don’t want to sleep and let you maneuver them around in cute little positions.  That was my experience. Baby M was wide awake for a majority of the 3 hours (yes, 3 hours…I told you I was new at this!) I was over to take pictures.  Being only 10 days old, her mom and I were both surprised by how wide awake she was.  Her mom even said she’d never seen her so awake since she’d been born.  Go figure.

All in all, it was a great experience and I would do it again.  The best part was getting to touch her super soft skin and snuggling up with a tiny newborn.  I definetly got my baby fix.  She was super cute.  Her big sister was very proud.  I loved seeing this family of 3 turn into a beautiful family of 4.  I especially appreciated the fact that my friend entrusted me with the task of photographing her new baby.

Welcome to the world, Baby M!

Couldn’t resist big sis’ beautiful blue eyes!
